A Sad Day for me!!!

My good friend Julie Petersen left today!!

Her and her husband are moving back to Oklahoma. This makes me sad because she will be soooo far away but we luckily still have the phone. We talk quite often especially because we are both prego. I am just 2 wks ahead of her.

She is a great friend...one of those people who you just instantly get along with. So easy to talk to and laugh with. I will miss not seeing her (not that we see each other that often) but take consolation in the fact that we can still talk on a regular basis.

Julie I hope your trip goes well and that you find a house quick!!! Love you lots!!

Here are some recent photos of us. The one is just before we had to say goodbye at smitty's in speedy creek, and the other is a repeat from ladies night.

Ladies Night Pics

I swiped These pics from my friend Jenny's blog (Hope you don't mind jen). A group Photo (taken with the fish eye lense) and then a shot of Julie Petersen and I showing off our tummies. I noticed that my belly looks a lot bigger from the angle I see it (looking down on it) than it does in this picture from the side.

Good night all. Finally get to learn how fat I have gotten tomorrow at the dr!!!!
Ladies Night

On thursday I headed out to Swift Current for Ladies Night Out!!! We had a great time. I think there were about 30 of us. Did a chinese gift exchange...I got the toaster oven. Got to see my good friend Julie who is also pregnant (2 weeks behind me) and moving to Okalhoma. I am glad to see that I am finally showing more than her because for a long time she looked much bigger than me. The baby had shifted...it was breech on the left side and now it is sitting transverse at the bottom of my uterus. It kind of feels like it is sitting on my bladder or using it as it's own punching bag. I am having to pee far more often! I will post pics of ladies night when I post pics of hawaii..thats right I have not forgot just have to load them all on to the computer and I am too lazy to do it right now!!

A Blonde moment

So I get up today and I am thinking that it is October 30th and that I have a dr's appointment. I rush around to get ready and go down town. I try to park in the big parkade across from TCU place or whatever it's new name is, and there is NOWHERE to park. There is some FSIN or SIGA or some sort of convention for the natives and they have managed to completely fill the parking lot. Soooo I do an illegal park in one of the corners of the parkade and run inside...it is now 10 am which is when my appointment is for... and I have to wait in line to check in at the desk. I get up there and I'm "I have an appointment to see Dr. Gilliland" and she get's this confused look on her face and says to me "Dr. G is not in the office today" I was like "but I have an appointment for the 30th" and she says "OOhhhh well that would be next monday. Today is the 24th!!!!!"

Yeah I felt pretty stupid! So I went out and bought my self a skirt from Thyme maternity and it made me feel better! I am looking forward to a fun lunch today with some girlfriends and their kids. We are going to the Saskatoon Asian for Vietnamese food..YUMMMMMM!!!! I love the stuff. I am going to get an order of vietnamese spring rolls and some beef satay soup. mmmmmmmm.

Aloha

So like I said previously it is good to be home. I thought it would be nice to get back to work but I have had the past four days from you know what. You would think that since I work with a bunch of adults that they would behave in an adult manor but that really just doesn't happen most of the time. Most of the time you are dealing with one sca telling on another and so on and I just really don't care!! You are PAID to DO a job and you need to DO IT!!! Not slack off on your work so that someone else has to get it done.

That said we had a fab time with the fam. Got to see Troy and Renee and the kids. They are all getting so big ( just the kids not Troy and Renee). We got there on a monday night and basically went straight to bed. On tuesday we started rolling and didn't stop until we got home. We went sight seeing at the volcano. We checked out the craters and the lava tube and we drove by the steam vents and sulfer vents. We would have gone down to the fresh lava flow but we didn't have time. Had fun on the hikes that we did tho. We watched a film on the history on Hawaii at the visitors centre and learned a lot about how the islands were formed and how the trees and birds and people all got there. We spent some time and the beach and Kevin even tried surfing a few times. He got up about 4 times which if you ask anyone who has surfed before is pretty good. We went to some fancy shmancy four seasons resort where you pay like a thousand bucks for one night. At the pool/beach they clean your sun glasses for you and give you cold cloths for your face and bring you ice water with lemon and I really felt out of place with the service. You couldn't tell the difference between us and the guests but I really felt like an imposter getting my glasses cleaned and such.... I guess it was just that I am not used to that kind of service. Anyhow it was a beautiful place with an awesome pool and private beach that was private only because you couldn't get to it unless you came through the resort or by boat.

We did a bit of shopping at the King shops in the marriot resort and also down along the beach at the Kona shops. We went snorkelling and I was so impressed with my self because I actually went in the water and swam around to look at the fish and turtles. We also attended a Luau(I don't know how to spell that word but you all get the drift) They had great food and some neat performances and it was really really expensive, but worth it to do it once.

On Sunday Oct 16th as you may well have heard there was a 6.7 earth quake at about 7 am only 25-30 miles from where we were. Yes is was freaky/scary. Yes I stood in the door way. No there was not that much damage to the house. Pictures fell off the walls and vases, candle sticks etc. broke. some people had cracks in thier walls and ceilings and one neighbors paito sunk about 2 or 3 ft in the ground. There were lava rocks on the road and some rock walls fell down. No one was seriously injured which is good and I can say that I was in a 6.7 earth quake. I hope to never have to experience that again.

Now we have been home for a week and my bag still has not shown up. Air Canada has been giving me terrible service and I really don't recommend traveling with them unless you have no choice. They "may" reimburse me for the cost of the stuff in my bag....that's right they MAY. Not so happy with them right now incase you could not tell.

Anyway I have gone on long enough and I must go to bed now but have no fear.....I will post some pics tomorrow.

Home Sweet Home!!

Well I do have to say even though we left behind some very nice sun and surf to come back to 0 degrees and snow on the ground I am very happy to be home. There is just something about coming back to your house and your things and family and friends.

We managed to survive a 6.7 earthquake and a 4.8 and many after shocks. oh yeah and then there was the heavy rain and the delayed flights and, the still 3 days later, lost luggage. Oh and I forgot to mention the dead fish that our friend Wade hid in our trunk so that the car smelt rotten!!!

I will post some pics and stories later, just wanted to say "HI!!"
